I enjoy going about in Pathankot with my sketch pad, drawing in a free and easy way with my pen or pastels.
I represent this town on my paper sheet in my own way, through my personal view point. I have been making occasional creative tours of Pathankot for quite some time, recording many scenes in the city that have gone through drastic changes ever since. Each picture holds some fond memories for me.

Pathankot
Prabal Pramanik

There was an old town
where horses went up and down
on cobble stone shod roads.

Those days of yore,
we find on more,
in todays Pathankot.

Clad in Chadra turban style,
men would sit and talk for a while
in a slow moving life,
without hassle and strife,
at leasure and at work.

Those days of yore,
we find no more,
in todays Pathankot.

On the streets tongas would ply,
One can feel the time roll by
at its own pace
without rush and race
in old Pathankot.

Those days of yore
we find no more
in todays Pathankot.

Dancing feet and glances sweet
would create a evening time treat
and delight the seeking soul.

Those days of yore
we find no more
in todays Pathankot.

The fire place glowed,
the chimney blowed
to ward off winter’s chill.

Those days of yore
we find no more
in todays Pathankot.

Ladies drawing water from the well,
would exchange gossip and many a tale.
The well side meet
was the time to tweet
in old Pathankot.

Those days of yore
we find no more
in todays Pathankot

The chirag by the door side lit,
at evening, the narrow street,
and welcomed the home comming man.

Those days of yore,
we find no more
in todays Pathankot.

With thin flat bricks
were houses made
with mason’s arch
in front facade,
the walls were painted
in mural style,
that would make you stand for a while.
and wonder with heart felt joy.

Those days of yore
we find no more
in todays Pathankot.

Life changes day by day,
people and values fade away
the memories we keep or throw away
in an ever moving flow.
